How high can we fly?

  • Up to 7,000' AGL both day and night
  • Up to 19,000' AGL during daylight hours
    • Use a RED flight card to request a High Altitude window for any flight over 7,000' AGL.
    • Note the predicted altitude on the flight card.
    • We'll call in once the rocket is on the pad and ready to fly.

  • 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM the range will close for a Dinner break

How does Night Flying work?

  • Maximum altitude at night is 7,000' AGL.
  • All rockets (and stages of multi-stage rockets) must carry lights that are clearly visible from launch until landing.
  • Other than that, it's just like daytime flying, but a lot cooler.

What sizes of Launch Rods and Rails will be available?

  • Rods from 1/8" to 1" will be available
  • Standard (BlackSky-compatible) 1/4" rails will be available
  • We also have a few 5/16" (1515 size) large rails available
  • 1/8" and 3/16" rods are 3' or 4' long
  • Rods and rails are mostly 6' long
  • Several 8' long rails are also available
  • Full details on the range layout are here.

Will there be TRA Research days held?

  • Yes.  Monday and Tuesday, June 14 & 15, 2010 are scheduled as TRA Research days.
  • We're still getting the details sorted out with the California Office of the State Fire Marshal, so we can't say anything further at this point in time.
  • Details will be released just as soon as we have them.  Thanks for your continued patience!
