LDRS 29 Frequently Asked Questions
How high can we fly?
- Up to 7,000' AGL both day and night
- Up to 19,000' AGL during daylight hours
- Use a RED flight card to request a High Altitude window for any flight over 7,000' AGL.
- Note the predicted altitude on the flight card.
- We'll call in once the rocket is on the pad and ready to fly.
What hours will the range be open each day?
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM the range will be open for daytime flying
- 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM the range will close for a Dinner break
- 9:00 PM to Midnight the range will open for night flying
- The range will close at 3:00 PM on Tuesday
- Sign up here to work a shift or two of Range Duty.
How does Night Flying work?
- Maximum altitude at night is 7,000' AGL.
- All rockets (and stages of multi-stage rockets) must carry lights that are clearly visible from launch until landing.
- Other than that, it's just like daytime flying, but a lot cooler.
What sizes of Launch Rods and Rails will be available?
- Rods from 1/8" to 1" will be available
- Standard (BlackSky-compatible) 1/4" rails will be available
- We also have a few 5/16" (1515 size) large rails available
- 1/8" and 3/16" rods are 3' or 4' long
- Rods and rails are mostly 6' long
- Several 8' long rails are also available

Will there be TRA Research days held?
- Yes. Monday and Tuesday, June 14 & 15, 2010 are scheduled as TRA Research days.
- We're still getting the details sorted out with the California Office of the State Fire Marshal, so we can't say anything further at this point in time.
